Here are the working principles of several common energy storage systems:

 

Lithium-ion Battery: Lithium-ion batteries are widely used energy storage batteries. They work by the insertion and extraction of lithium ions between the

positive and negative electrodes. During charging, lithium ions are extracted from the positive electrode and move through the electrolyte to be embedded in the negative electrode. During discharging, the lithium ions return to the positive electrode from the negative electrode, releasing the stored electrical energy.

They consist of positive and negative electrodes immersed in an electrolyte. During charging, current passes through the electrolyte, reducing lead dioxide on the positive electrode to lead-acid and oxidizing lead on the negative electrode to lead dioxide. There are also other energy storage technologies available, such as sodium-ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells. Each energy storage technology has its advantages and suitable applications.
